Chateau Hosanna was purchased in 1999 by Jean-Pierre Mouiex, prior to this the the chateau was owned by the Giraud family and was known as Chateau Certain Giraud. Chateau Hosanna is located facing Chateau Petrus and is situated between Chateau Lafleur and Vieux Chateau Certan, quite illustrious company.
Chateau Hosanna has the famous red gravel soil of Pomerol with layers of red clay. The vines are between 25 and 50 years of age, with an average of 40 years old. The vineyards covers some 4.5 hectares and is planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, which is quite a high percentage for Pomerol – the blend in the wines is usually 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Hosanna is aged in approximately 50% new French oak barrels for between twelve and fourteen months depending upon the vintage. The wine from Chateau Hosanna are concentrated, full-bodied, rich and complex but with a charm and elegance that Pomerol is well-known for. Production is approximately 1500 cases per annum.
