Description

Chateau La Fleur Petrus 2006 75cl bottles.

Chateau La Fleur Petrus is a winery located on the right bank of the Gironde river in the Pomerol wine growing appellation of Bordeaux.

Situated across the road from Château Pétrus adjacent to Château Lafleur, the vineyard lies on the northeastern edge of the high plateau of Pomerol where the soil’s particular feature is large gravel, with no clay or sand. La Fleur-Pétrus was acquired by Jean Pierre Moueix in 1953, becoming a part of the négoçiant house Établissements Jean-Pierre Moueix which also owns Château Pétrus and Château Trotanoy. The estate was enlarged with the acquisition of vines from Château Le Gay in 1994. The company also owns Dominus, Napanook, Othello and Ulysses in the Napa Valley.

The vineyards of Chateau La Fleur Petrus cover some 45.8 acres and are planted with 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Château La Fleur-Pétrus is composed predominantly of Merlot, which lends silkiness and generosity to the wine. Cabernet Franc, planted on gravel and fine clay, contributes rigor and complexity, while a small percentage of Petit Verdot, planted on fine gravel, offers a hint of spice to the finish.  The wine combines a unique elegance with the generosity and structure typical of the great vineyards of Pomerol. An attentive tasting reveals remarkable refinement, complexity, and a touch of violet.
