Description

Chateau Lafon Rochet is a red Bordeaux wine from Saint-Estephe. It was classified as a fourth growth in the historical 1855 classification of Bordeaux.

The original estate dates back to the 17th Century. It was purchased by Guy Tesseron in 1960 and remains in the same family today. The current owner is Guy’s grandson, Basile Tesseron. The label is a striking yellow colour, which matches the colour the Chateau was painted in the year 2000. As well as Chateau Lafon Rochet, the Tesseron family also own Chateau Pontet Canet and Cognac Tesseron.

The estate consists of 111 acres (45 hectares) with 41 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.T he “great wine” vines are at least 35 years old; the oldest vines, some of which date back to 1938, produce less fruit, but offer greater complexity to the wines. There is also a second wine produced called Les Pèlerins de Lafon-Rochet.

Chateau Lafon Rochet 2016 is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvigon, 25% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The wine has remarkable strength and length providing much elegance to the tasting experience.
