Description

Chateau Le Grand Sigognac is located in the city of St Ysans du Medoc, on the plateau of Blaignan, renowned for producing some of the appellation’s best wines.

Château Le Grand Sigognac is owned by Barton & Guestier. Barton & Guestier (B&G), established in Bordeaux in 1725 by Thomas Barton, stands as the oldest wine merchant in the region, boasting a rich history of bringing French wines to a global audience. Through strategic partnerships with numerous winegrowers across France’s premier wine regions, B&G oversees all aspects of production, ensuring quality from vine to bottle. With its headquarters at Château Magnol, B&G combines traditional Bordeaux winemaking expertise with modern techniques, maintaining a strong international presence and a diverse portfolio that showcases the breadth and excellence of French wines.

The 5 hectare estate consists of vines planted in 1988 and 1989 and are 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. Made with traditional winemaking methods, 20% of the wine is aged in new oak barrels, 40% in one-year barrels and the rest in vats and approximately 20,000 bottles are produced.

This wine is typical of its appellation: soft, rich fruity and well-structured with an excellent ageing potential.

Food Pairing

Château Le Grand Sigognac is a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with a range of hearty dishes. Its robust structure and rich flavors make it an excellent companion to red meats, grilled or roasted, as well as barbecue and strong cheeses.

Tasting Notes

Château Le Grand Sigognac has a well-balanced structure and rich fruit profile.  There are notes of black currant accompanied by subtle hints of mint, liquorice and the toasty vanilla imparted from the oak ageing.
