Description

Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild is the second wine of Château Mouton Rothschild has been produced since 1993, although the name “Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild” was first used in 1994 (Petit Mouton is the name of Baroness Philippine’s residence on the Rothschild estate). It is made from a selection of the youngest vines and harvested, vinified and bottled in the same way – the grapes are collected in small baskets; the wine is fermented in the famous Mouton oak vats and aged in barrels using traditional methods. Everything is done to ensure that the wine expresses the elegance and depth of a great Pauillac. Only very small quantities are ever produced.

The label for Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild is another design by Jean Carlu, the man who was also behind the first ever Mouton label, for the 1924 vintage.

Cabernet Sauvignon 68%, Merlot 24% and Cabernet Franc 8%.

Tasting Notes

From the Chateau – Petit Mouton 2010 reveals a rich and complex nose on pleasant red fruit and vanilla aromas with hints of cocoa. The attack is immediately round and elegant. On the palate, forward, tightly-knit tannins provide a framework for deep, ripe fruit flavours that mingle harmoniously with roasted notes.
