Description

Domaine G. Roumier Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras is red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the Le Cras vineyard. It is located on the hillside directly behind the village of Chambolle Musigny itself.

Domaine G. Roumier is an extremely highly regarded, and one of the longest established (1924), Burgundy wine producers who are based in the heart of Chambolle Musigny. The estate has been run by Christophe Roumier (George Roumier’s grandson) since 1982 and their wines are characterised as being complex, combining lightness and intensity with great grace and length. Today, the Domaine covers 11.52 hectares in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Corton-Charlemagne. Christophe says, “There is no Roumier style but rather a Roumier philosophy. Vinification is there to reveal each terroir, each appellation!”

The commune of Chambolle Musigny is located in the Cote de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. There are 25 climates classified as 1er Cru vineyards in Chambolle Musigny. The Roumier Le Cras vineyard is 1.7553 hectares in size with an East / South- Eastern exposition. The soils are chalky marl from the late Bajocian age. It is an extremely chalky vineyard filled with fossilized seashells which means that the wine always exhibits a potent minerality. The average vine age is 45 years old.
