Description

Domaine G. Roumier Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru Clos de La Bussiere is red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir grapes sourced from a single walled vineyard with an original Cistercian wall dating back to the 12th century.

Domaine G. Roumier is an extremely highly regarded, and one of the longest established (1924), Burgundy wine producers who are based in the heart of Chambolle Musigny. The estate has been run by Christophe Roumier since 1982 and their wines are characterised as being complex, combining lightness and intensity with great grace and length. Today, the Domaine covers 11.52 hectares in Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Corton-Charlemagne. Christophe says, “There is no Roumier style but rather a Roumier philosophy. Vinification is there to reveal each terroir, each appellation!”

The commune of Morey-Saint-Denis is located in the Cote de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. There are 20 climates classified as 1er Cru vineyards of which Clos de La Bussiere, owned entirely by Domaine G. Roumier, is one of the finest. It is a single vineyard owned in its entirety by Roumier. The vineyard was purchased in 1953 and is just over the border from Chambolle. Cru Clos de La Bussiere is a 2.59 hectare vineyard with an eastern exposition. The soil is a combination of very rocky subsoil covered in iron-rich clay and the average vine age is 35 years old.
