Lanzerac Pionier Pinotage is the flagship wine from a historic and important winery. Lanzerac has for centuries been a true icon of the South African winelands, they also produced South Africa’s first commercially produced Pinotage with the 1959 vintage. Since joining the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI) in 2006 the Lanzerac Estate has been busy in its quest to leave the earth in a better state than what we found it. Lanzerac Pionier Pinotage is a tribute to the world’s first bottled Pinotage – the 1959 Lanzerac Pinotage. The wine spent 18 months in barrel after which 3 barrels were hand-picked and blended.
