Description

Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour is the third wine of Chateau Latour. It was first launched in 1973 and is made from vats that do not meet the selection criteria to be used in the second wine of Chateau Latour, Les Fort de Latour. It is also made from younger vines in the vineyard not in the “Enclos” where grapes for the Grand Vin are grown. Initially Le Pauillac de Chateau Latour was only released in 1974 and 1987 however, since 1990, it has been made in each vintage. The Chateau Latour estate consists of some 190 acres of vineyards planted with 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 2% of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This particular wine is a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is made in only small quantities and most people have not heard of this wine. A bargain way to try something from this world-famous estate.
