Description

Orgullo de Barros Seleccion Barrica is a red wine from Spain, 100% Tempranillo, bottled as a Vino de la Tierra de Extremadura.

The wine is made by the Nuestra Señora de la Soledad co-operative society located in Aceuchal in the province of Badajoz. It was founded in 1976 and today has 703 members and is one of the largest in Extremadura, if not Spain.

The Tempranillo grapes come from vineyards located in the Tierra de Barros region from vines with an age of between 20 and 40 years old. 70% of the wine is vinified in the traditional manner, whilst 30% is made using thermovinification, a technique whereby the grapes and must are heated to near boiling temperatures prior to fermentation. This process is said to enhances both extraction and stabilization of anthocyanins in the wine. This 100% Tempranillo is aged for a minimum of 3 months in American oak barrels.

Serve With

This is a great wine with red meats, sausages, stews, tortillas, barbecues and cheeses.

Tasting Notes
