Description

Payva Crianza is a red wine, a blend of Tempranillo and Syrah, bottled as a Crianza from the Ribera del Guadiana DO of Extremadura.

Bodegas Martinez Payva is a family business with a long tradition of more than five generations growing the vine and making wines. It is owned by the Martinez Payva family who have been growing grapes and making wine since 1876. They have been instrumental in the introduction of new cultivation techniques and grape varietals in the area.

Payva Crianza is a blend of (usually) around 95% Tempranillo and 5% Syrah. The grapes are hand picked from vineyards with an average age of 20 year old planted on clay soils. There is an alcoholic fermentation between 18 and 24°C with continuous pumping overs. The wine is aged in 300 litre oak barrels f0r 10 months and 6 months in bottle prior to release.

Tasting Notes

Payva Crianza has a mellow, red colour. The nose has aromas of floral notes, ripe red fruit, confit, liquorice and spice. The palate is packed with ripe jammy fruit, red and dark berry fruits and hints of chocolate. Good finish with a touch of sweetness.
