Description

Prunotto Dolcetto D’Alba DOC is a medium to light weight red wine from the Piedmont wine growing region of Italy.

The Prunotto winery is located in Alba, the most important focal point of the Langhe, equidistant from Barbaresco and Barolo, on the right bank of the Tanaro River. The property sits on a smooth plain surrounded by vineyards of the Langhe and Roero regions. In 1989, the Marchesi Antinori family began its collaboration with the Prunotto Company, at first handling distribution and later, in 1994, when the owners, the Colla brothers retired, getting directly involved in the production process, maintaining the excellent level of quality which previous owner Alfredo Prunotto had always insisted upon. One of the most important objectives set by the Antinori family together with the Colla brothers, was to produce wines from personally-owned vineyards and therefore to maintain more control over the final product right from birth. In the course of the last ten years Prunotto has invested a lot, especially with regards to updating its cellars and the technology of the aging of its wines.

The grapes for the Prunotto Dolcetto D’Alba are sourced from vineyards in the areas of Barbaresco, Treiso, Alba and Monforte. Grapes were brought to the cellar, destemmed, and crushed. After pressing, 6 days maceration and malolactic fermentation the wine is left to rest for three months in stainless steel tanks and is then bottle in the spring of the following the vintage. 100% Dolcetto.
