Description

Rodney Strong Knotty Vines Zinfandel is made from 100% Zinfandel grapes sourced from some very old vines located in Westside road behind the Rodney Strong winery. When Rodney Strong acquired this 15 hectare parcel of vines, he chose to leave them untouched, as they had been since 1904, leaving the old and gnarled, low-yielding vines. The fruit from the old vines is supplemented with grapes harvested from vnieyards to the north in the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Rodney Strong Knotty Vines Zinfandel is aged for 16 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Winemaker is Rick Sayre who has been making wine at Rodney Strong since 1979. Rodney Strong Estate Vineyards is a family-owned business, purchased by the Klein Family in 1989, who place a very strong emphasis on their eco-friendly and sustainability credentials. They are solar powered, certified sustainable, practice Fish Friendly Farming are Sonoma County’s first carbon neutral winery.
