Vine-growing couple José MarÃa GarcÃa and Milagros Figuero have dedicated their lives to their family vineyards in La Horra. They played a pivotal role in establishing DO Ribera del Duero as a premium wine region by supplying top-quality Tempranillo grapes to the area’s finest wineries.
In the late 1990s, José and Milagros took the bold step of creating their own wines. They built their modern winery at La Horra and released the first Tinto Figuero vintage in 2001. Today, with the expert winemaking team of Alicia VÃtores and Oscar Rodriguez, Figuero maintains an unwavering commitment to perfection in every bottle of their Ribera del Duero wine.
Using minimal-intervention techniques, they capture the purest expression of their exceptional Tempranillo grapes, resulting in beautifully balanced, complex, and elegant wines that highlight the unique terroir of Ribera del Duero.
All wines are aged in a thoughtful combination of French and American oak barrels, followed by additional bottle maturation until they reach optimal readiness for release.
This vibrant Ribera del Duero wine is made from Tempranillo grapes sourced from 10–20 year-old vines. The process begins with careful hand-harvesting and cluster selection in the vineyard. The grapes are then destemmed and transferred to gravity-controlled tanks for 5–6 days of cold skin maceration prior to fermentation. After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic conversion and an additional two months of maturation, followed by clarification using natural egg whites.
It is then aged for four months in new oak barrels (85% American oak and 15% French oak), imparting subtle structure and complexity. Finally, it receives another four months of bottle ageing before leaving the cellar, ensuring a harmonious and ready-to-drink Ribera del Duero Tempranillo with pure fruit character and elegant balance.
