Champagne Henriot Brut Rose NV combines elegance and intensity in the purest Henriot style. This cuvée is a blend that showcases Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims region of Champagne whilst retaining the fresh minerality of Chardonnay.
The Henriot family can trace their lineage back to 1640 in Reims where they worked in textile and wine brokerage, however Champagne Henriot was not officially founded until 1808 by Apolline Henriot. Champagne Henriot became a huge success with royalty and was a favourite at the Dutch and Austrian courts and with the Hapsburgs in Hungary. House of Henriot is one of last independent and family-owned Champagne producers and is devoted to creating the most superb wines from grapes carefully selected from the great “terroirs” on the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs.
Champagne Henriot Brut Rose NV is crafted by adding Pinot Noir red wine to the blend. Grand Cru and Premier Cru grapes make up 70% of the cuvee. The wine expresses the very best of Montagne de Reims Pinot Noir (50%) and Pinot Meunier (10%). The richness and full flavours of the Pinots are carefully balance by the fresh mineral character of Chardonnay, 40% of which comprises the rest of the blend. 35% of the Champagne Henriot Brut Rose cuvée is made up from from precious reserve wines. After the cuvée is assembled, each bottle is left to age in the cool, calm surrounds of Henriot’s cellars for 3 years.
Dosage is 9 g/L.
Pale pink in appearance and tinged with copper, with a fine and persistent bead in the glass.
On the nose, this Champagne may surprise with its characteristic, complex intensity and appealing fruit-driven style. Red and dark berry fruit aromas of raspberry, strawberry and crunchy cherry, followed by freshly squeezed lemon, pink grapefruit and mandarin orange. Vegetal notes then follow in succession, offering blackcurrant bud and cloves, together with delicate iris-scented powder and finishing on delicious notes of candied fruits.
Well-balanced on the palate, revealing incredible, unashamed persistence. Attractive balsamic and floral flavours pave the way for spicy notes, in a wave of great freshness. The tasting culminates in a lingering touch of sweetness.
