Champagne Krug Vintage 2006 was produced in a year that Krug consider to be a great and classic Krug Champagne. Krug 2006 is generous, intense in aromas on the palette, without any excess, with an ending leaving a sensation of greatness and distinction.
Krug Champagne was established by Joseph Krug in 1843 and, with unique single-mindedness and sense of purpose, the Krug family has proudly cultivated the markedly individual character of their exceptional champagne. Theirs is a living legend, a certain idea of excellence that has been quietly redefined through six generations without a break. Since January 1999 the house is majority owned by the multinational conglomerate LVMH Moët Hennessy / Louis Vuitton SA, owners of, amongst other luxurious brands, Moet et Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Ruinart). However the Krug family still remains involved and, in 2009, Olivier Krug became the house director.
Although Krug are probably most famous for their Krug Grande Cuvee Brut, (a blend of different vintages) their Vintage Champagne is Krug’s definitive, one-off interpretation of the character of an outstanding year. It is a blend of some of the best, young fermented, wines which best represent the character of the particular vintage. The three grape varieties are blended to create harmony: the elegance of Chardonnay, the fullness and fruit of Pinot Noir and the fruit of carefully selected Pinot Meunier grapes bring finesse and complexity to the wine.
