Craggy Range Te Muna Road Riesling is a single vineyard wine from the Martinborough wine growing region, the most southerly wine-growing region of New Zealand’s North Island. Craggy Range was established by Terry Peabody and Steve Smith MW in 1997 with the intention finding and purchasing the best vineyard sites in New Zealand. Once the sites were identified and bought the vineyard sites were planted with the grape varieties best suited to the different terroirs. Craggy range has two wineries located in the Hawke’s Bay region, the Giants winery and the Highway 50 winery, and they have vineyards in Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay (great for Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah), Martinborough (Pinot Noir, Sauvignon and Riesling) and the cooler climates of Central Otago and Waitaki Valley (mainly Pinot Noir). Only French oak from the Troncais, Allier and Vosges forests are used at Craggy Range. Craggy Range Te Muna Road Riesling is made from grapes sourced from parcels of vines growing on the Martinborough Terrace on the Te Muna Road. The grapes are hand harvested, whole bunch pressed, cool fermented and the wine left on the lees some 4 months prior to bottling.rnrn
