Description

Evans and Tate Redbrook Chardonnay is a blend of select parcels of fruit from the region’s most outstanding vineyards in the central and southern region of Margaret River. Evans and Tate is one of the top wineries in the Margaret River wine-growing region of Western Australia. It is located quite centrally in Margaret River at the corner of Caves Road and Metricup Road, Wilyabrup and is one of the larger wineries in the region. Evans and Tate was established in 1971 when John Evans and John Tate went into partnership and bought the small Gnangara Winery in the Swan Valley, north of Perth. In 1974 they identified a piece of land on the northern banks of the Wilyabrup River in Margaret River with well-drained soils, Mediterranean climate and maritime influence. In 1975 they planted their first vines in what was to become the Redbrook Vineyard (named after Tate’s Dachshund). Through the years, the company has modernised, evolved and expanded and now concentrates solely on Western Australian wines. 100% Chardonnay barrel fermented in (mostly new) French oak barrels. After fermentation the wine was aged in barrel for a further 7 to 9 months with fortnightly lees stirring for the first 2 months and then monthly for the final 5-7 months to provide texture and mouthfeel in the end wine. No malolactic fermentation was undertaken.
