Description

Notes – Isabel Estate is nestled into the heart of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Isabel Estate Vineyard was established in 1982 to produce premium classical grape varieties in Marlborough. Prior to the 1994 vintage, Proprietor Michael Tiller, then an airline pilot with Air New Zealand, together with his wife Robyn, operated Isabel Estate successfully as a contract grape growing vineyard supplying some of Marlborough’s leading wine producers with much sought after premium fruit – now they to produce true “estate” wines – wines produced only from vineyards under its total viticultural control. Tasting note from Isabel Estate – Fragrant to say the least, wow! The ’07 vintage saw its challenges in late spring with frosts affecting flowering, but the low yields were obviously to our advantage. Flavours explode from the glass! Intense lime and citrus, exotic fruit and floral notes…The palate too is lively, but manages a smooth & round ‘delivery’ while exuding tropical fruit, tangy citrus and minerality. This is a bright, crisp and fresh Sauvignon Blanc, but in keeping with the Isabel style it offers good palate weight while maintaining elegance and balance. Certainly enjoyable in its youth, this wine will continue to develop in years to come.
