Louis Latour Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Truffieres is made from grapes grown in a vineyard situated high up on the slope just below the hamlet of Blagny (where Latour make a fantastic Meursault). Puligny-Montrachet is the 216 hectare geographical middleman of the white wine villages, bordered by Meursault to the north and by Chassagne-Montrachet to the south with which it harbours 5 of the 6 white Grands Crus in Burgundy.
Louis Latour is a long established player in the Burgundy wine trade and can trace their origins back to being wine-growers in the village of Aloxe Corton as early as 1768. Today they are one of the most famous producers and negociants in Burgundy and remain family-owned after 11 generations. Louis Latour also own their own cooperage and make over 2000 barrels per year.

The vines in the the vineyard have an average of 35 years old and the soil is composed of scree, limestone and marl. All the grapes are hand harvested and the wine is traditionally fermented in oak barrels and also undergoes complete malolactic fermentation. Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Truffieres is aged for 8 to 10 months in medium-toasted French oak barrels, made at the Louis Latour cooperage, 50% of which are new.
