A Quick Overview of the 2024 Port Vintage
It has been ages!. The 2024 Port vintage is the first general classic Vintage Port declaration since 2017 (a 7-year gap, the longest since WWII). It followed a near-perfect growing season in the Douro with a warm summer with even ripening, followed by a cooler autumn that preserved freshness and balance.
Port producers have described the vintage as a return to classical Douro harmony, producing elegant, precise, structured wines with great aromatics, fine tannins, natural acidity, and strong ageing potential, rather than the more powerful, heat-driven styles of recent years.
The major Port Houses (Symington, Fladgate, etc.) have declared it across their portfolios, calling the wines refined, complex and outstanding.
