Chiroubles AC Domaine Cheysson is produced by current owner Jean-Pierre Large. Chiroubles, is, of course, one of the 10 Beaujolais Crus, and is made from 100% Gamay grapes. This soft, attractive Beaujolais is often described as “feminine” in character and can be served lightly chilled, particularly in the summer months.
Domaine Cheysson traces its origins to 1970, when it was established by Emile Cheysson—a distinguished statesman, sociologist, and entrepreneur. Spanning 26 hectares, Domaine Cheysson’s vineyards are situated on the slopes of the appellation on granitic soils, a defining feature of the Chiroubles appellation.
Nestled on stunning hills at an altitude of 400 meters, the village of Chiroubles offers a bucolic haven with breathtaking 180° views over the Beaujolais vineyards and onward to the Alpine massif. The region alone is worth a visit for its landscapes, not to mention its excellent dining options. Known for some of the highest-altitude vineyards among the Beaujolais Crus, Chiroubles produces wines celebrated for their delicate, perfumed elegance, often revealing floral notes of violets. Compared to the richer, more robust wines of Morgon or Juliénas, Chiroubles offers a lighter, more fragrant profile. From harvest to vinification, Domaine Cheysson guarantees exceptional production, celebrated in numerous guides and awarded in many competitions.
