Description

CVNE Vina Real Reserva Rioja is a red wine made at one of CVNE’s (or to give it its full name, the Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana) four wineries. These are Contino, Imperial, CVNE and the Vina Real winery where this fabulous Rioja is made.

The CVNE Vina Real range of wines were first launched in the 1920s and the wines are produced from grapes grown in the Rioja Alavesa province. They were one of the first producers to pioneer the use of oak barrel ageing for Crianza wines in the area. The vineyards border the Camino Real, or Royal Drive, hence the name. Located in Laguardia, a stunning new concrete, wood and stainless steel winery, designed by French Architect Philippe Mazieres, was completed in 2004.

The grapes for the Vina Real Reserva Rioja are hand harvested from carefully selected plots of vineyards in the Rioja Alavesa wine growing region. On arrival at the winery, the grapes undergo a period of cold maceration prior to fermentation which takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After vinification, the wine is aged for between 22 and 24 months in a combination of first and second fill French oak casks before ageing in bottle at the bodega before release for sale.

Vina Real Reserva Rioja 2013 is a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% of Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo.
