The Bolivar Petit Coronas Cigar is the same size as the tubed Bolivar No 2 and other classic Cuban Petit Coronas like the Montecristo No 4 or the Romeo Y Julieta No 2. The Bolivar house style is to produce some of the strongest, best full-bodied Cuban cigars.

Heritage of Bolivar Cigars

Bolivar Cigars was founded in pre-revolutionary Cuba in 1902 and is named after Simón Bolívar, the 18th-century revolutionary who liberated much of South America from Spanish Rule. The Bolivar brand is based at the Partagas factory (today known as the Francisco Pérez Germán factory), where both brands are now made. Their Cigars were not exported until the 1940s, but soon became very popular in export markets. The richer style was a hit, particularly in the UK.

A High Proportion of Ligero leaves

The tobacco is a blend of full-strength Vuelta Abajo filler and binder tobaccos. A higher percentage of “ligero” leaves are used in the blend, which contributes to the rich, spicy character. These slow-maturing leaves are found near the top of the plant and are characterised by a coarse texture and produce smoke with a potent, spicy taste. All sizes of Bolivar are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano,’ – long filler, totally handmade.

The Bolivar Range

The Bolivar core range of cigars is small, consisting of the Petit Corona (No 2s), Corona Js, Belicoso Finos and the classic robusto-sized Bolivar Royal Coronas. In the 1920s, Bolivar became famous for making the smallest cigar in the world, the Bolivar Delgado, measuring 1 7/8 inches long with a ring gauge of 20!
