Cigar Profile:
The Cohiba Siglo I Cigar is part of the Linea 1942 range launched in 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s epic voyage. It is a small and slender cigar, the vitola is “Perla”.
Cohiba is the flagship Cuban Cigar brand of Habanos S.A. and was created in 1966. It was formally launched in 1968, for President Fidel Castro, and the cigars were made at the then top-secret, now world-famous, El Laguito factory (today some of the cigars are now made at the Partagas factory). Originally Cohiba Cigars were only ever for the use of high-ranking government officials and for giving away as gifts to heads of state and visiting diplomats.
The Cohiba Cigar brand was first launched outside of Cuba at the 1982 Football World Cup in Spain. The name comes from the ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba – the earliest known form of a Habano.
The tobacco leaves for Cohiba Cigars are the “selection of the selection” from the five finest plantations in the San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districNew wines and spirits at Fareham Wine Cellarts of the Vuelta Abajo zone. Uniquely amongst Havanas, up to three of Cohiba’s filler leaves, the seco, ligero and the rare medio tiempo, undergo an extra fermentation in barrels, which adds smoothness to the blend.

These cigars are un-tubed from our humidor and are presented in individual card gift boxes.
The Cohiba Siglo I offers a refined and complex smoking experience in a compact format. Upon lighting, it opens with a creamy smoothness, delivering notes of toasted cedar and subtle earthiness. As it progresses, rich flavours of sweet hay, light pepper, and a touch of honey emerge, balanced by a delicate floral undertone. The finish is clean and slightly nutty, showcasing the signature elegance of the Cohiba line in a short, satisfying smoke.
Try with a lighter, aged Cuban Rum like Ron Cubay 10 Year Old, which will complement the cigar’s honeyed and woody notes. Try with a good Highland or Speyside Malt.
Also pairs well with an espresso coffee or sweetened black tea.
