The Cohiba Siglo II is part of the Linea 1942 range launched in November 1992 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s epic voyage. These elegant, slender Marevas cigars are 5 1/8 inches long with a 42 ring gauge. They are a Petit Corona size, the same size as other iconic Cuban cigars like the Montecristo No 4 and Romeo y Julieta No 2.

Cohiba Cigars are the flagship Cuban Cigar brand of Habanos S.A. and were created in 1966. It was formally launched in 1968, for President Fidel Castro, and the cigars were made at the then top-secret, now world-famous, El Laguito factory (today some of the cigars are now made at the Partagas factory).

Originally, Cohiba Cigars were only ever for the use of high-ranking government officials and for giving away as gifts to heads of state and visiting diplomats. The Cohiba Cigar brand was first launched outside of Cuba at the 1982 Football World Cup in Spain. The name comes from the ancient Taino Indian word for the bunches of tobacco leaves that Columbus first saw being smoked by the original inhabitants of Cuba – the earliest known form of a Habano.

Only The Finest Tobaccos

The tobacco leaves for Cohiba Cigars are the “selection of the selection” from the five finest plantations in the San Juan y Martinez and San Luis districts of the Vuelta Abajo zone. Uniquely amongst Havanas, up to three of Cohiba’s filler leaves, the seco, ligero and the rare medio tiempo, undergo an extra fermentation in barrels, which adds smoothness to the blend.

Tasting Notes

The Cohiba Siglo II offers a refined, mild-to-medium flavour profile, starting with gentle woody and cedar notes in the first third. As it progresses, the second third introduces creamy chocolate, caramel, and subtle espresso, with a smooth, buttery texture. The final third maintains this balance, adding hints of leather and a touch of spice, delivering a sophisticated, well-rounded smoke.
