Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial cigars were introduced to the Epicure range in 2008. Measuring in at 5 ½ inches, it is essentially a longer version of the robusto sized Epicure No 2, with whom it shares a ring gauge of 50. These are classic, light and elegant cigars in the Hoyo de Monterrey style. A perfect attractive choice for those looking for a delicate yet aromatic Havana, light in taste but with great elegance and complexity.

Hoyo de Monterrey cigars originate from the town of San Juan Martinez in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. Jose Gener, who was originally from Tarragona in Spain, first used the name of his “vega” on a brand of Habanos in 1865. “Hoyo” translates as a ‘hole’ and describes the low-lying position of Gener’s plantation on the fertile banks of the San Juan y Martinez river. The brand is best known for it famous Double Coronas and for the Epicure 1 and 2s. They also produce a range call “La Hoya Series” which slightly stronger and spicier than the brand’s classic range.

All sizes are ‘tripalarga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade using filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.
