The Montecristo Open J is the smallest cigar in the Montecristo “Open” range.
Montecristo must be one of the most famous of all of the Cuban Cigar brands. It takes its name from Alex Dumas’ famous book “The Count of Montecristo” which was a favourite when it was read to the cigar rollers, or Torcedores, whilst they worked. The factory was founded in 1935 and they make two ranges of cigars, the Linea Clasica and the new Open Range.
The Montecristo Open range of cigars was only introduced in 2009 and consists of 4 sizes, in decreasing size, the Eagle, the Regata, the Master and the Junior. The Open Range blend is lighter than the Clasica range of cigars and was produced to target a new generation of smokers, particularly those that enjoy outdoor pursuits such as sailing and golf (hence Open, Regata and Eagle).
The smaller size of the Montecristo Open J makes it a good smoke for when time is short (around 20 minutes or so) or for a morning or pre-dinner aperitif cigar. This rare vitola (the unique measurements of a cigar) was previously only found in the Hoyo de Monterrey Du Depute cigar.
Montecristo Open J is the new name for the Open Junior. It was renamed in 2018.
Presented individually in a cedar -ined aluminium tube.
