The Por Larranaga Montecarlos Cigar is a slender and long cigar, a slim panetela. This cigar size has rather gone out of fashion as everyone wants a wider cigar these days, but they offer a very elegant, chic smoke. This vitola de galera is know as a “Delicioso” and it is the only Cuban cigar produced with these dimensions.

The Por Larranaga brand was established in 1834 by Ignacio Larrañaga and has a well-earned reputation for producing carefully crafted and well presented cigars. There is currently only a small range of cigars produced including the short and thick Galanes, a Petit Corona, the long, slender Montecarlos and this cigar, the Picadores. All the filler and binder tobacco comes from the Vuelta Abajo zone in the Pinar del Río region. The brand produces both long filler and short filler cigars, but in the UK all Por Larranaga cigars imported are “tripa larga, totalmente a mano” – long filler, totally hand made technique. Por Larrañaga cigars have been in continuous production in Cuba longer than any other Cuban cigar brand.

Por Larranaga Montecarlos Cigar were originally a machine made cigar with a ring gauge of 35 until they were discontinued in 2001. These were then relaunched as a handmade cigar in 2002 as a slimmer 33 ring gauge cigar featuring a solid, gold coloured cigar band.
