The Quai d’Orsay No 50 Cigar was first launched in 2017 in Paris alongside another new vitola, the No 54. The No 50 is a Petit Robusto-sized cigar, the same size as the Partagás Serie D No 5. They are perfect for those who prefer a chunkier cigar, which is a lighter smoke.
Quai d’Orsay Cigars were created in 1973 specifically for the French market by Habanos S.A. for French distributor SEITA Cigarros. The brand takes its name from the famous Quai d’Orsay street in Paris, where SEITA were headquartered, which runs along the Seine River and houses the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This connection to French diplomatic elegance perfectly captures the brand’s refined character.
Quai d’Orsay has gradually expanded to international markets. Although these premium Cuban cigars are hand-rolled in same factories as more famous Cuban brands, they still fly under the radar a little, making them an excellent choice for discerning smokers without premium prices.
Quai d’Orsay No 50 cigars are hand-rolled (“totalmente a mano”) using long-filler tobacco from the famous Vuelta Abajo region and finished with a Colorado Claro shade wrapper.
Quai d’Orsay cigars are renowned for being among the softest Cuban cigars available. They offer delicate notes of precious woods and honey, complemented by vanilla and hazelnut flavours. The smoking experience features an elegant bouquet of dry flowers and concludes with a pleasing finish of subtle earthy notes.

This smooth, refined, and approachable cigar features excellent construction and even burns throughout, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced aficionados who prefer elegant, lighter Cuban cigars.
These cigars are a perfect match for a lighter style of rum, perhaps a Cuban like the Eminente or the Mezan Nicaraguan.
Champagne would be a good wine pairing: the effervescence and acidity will cleanse the palate between draws, while the toasty, brioche notes complement the cigar’s nutty flavours.
To also complement the nutty flavours, I would also recommend a Tawny Port. Niepoort Senior would be a good choice.
