The Quai d’Orsay No. 50 is a refined, elegant Cuban cigar that delivers a smoother, lighter smoking experience in a chunkier format. Released in 2017 alongside the No. 54, it shares the same popular Petit Robusto size as the Partagás Serie D No. 5. These are perfect if you enjoy a shorter, thicker cigar without the heavier strength.
Created in 1973 by Habanos S.A. exclusively for the French market, Quai d’Orsay takes its name from the prestigious Quai d’Orsay street in Paris, home to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This heritage gives the brand its signature refined, diplomatic elegance.
While produced in the same factories as Cuba’s most famous marques, Quai d’Orsay remains one of the best-kept secrets in premium cigars. It offers exceptional quality and flavour at a more accessible price point, ideal for both newcomers to Cuban cigars and experienced smokers looking for something lighter and more approachable.
Hand-rolled (totalmente a mano) with long-filler tobacco from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region and finished with a smooth Colorado Claro wrapper, the Quai d’Orsay No. 50 is known for being one of the softest and most elegant Cuban cigars available.
Expect delicate notes of:
The smoke is smooth, well-balanced, and consistently well-constructed with an even burn.
Important: These cigars come directly from our temperature-controlled humidor and are supplied untubed. Don’t forget your cigar cutter!
The Quai d’Orsay No 50 offers a typically light to medium-bodied smoking experience with elegant flavour notes of cedar, cream, honey, subtle spices, floral undertones, vanilla, and toasted nuts. This smooth, refined, and approachable cigar features excellent construction and even burns throughout, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced aficionados who prefer elegant, lighter Cuban cigars.
These cigars are a perfect match for a lighter style of rum, perhaps a Cuban like the Eminente or the Mezan Nicaraguan.
Champagne would be a good wine pairing: the effervescence and acidity will cleanse the palate between draws, while the toasty, brioche notes complement the cigar’s nutty flavours.
To also complement the nutty flavours, I would also recommend a Tawny Port. Niepoort Senior would be a good choice.
