The Romeo y Julieta Brand is named after Shakespeare’s eponymous lovers and, as Cuban cigar brand, dates back to 1875. The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodríguez. Don Rodriguez was one of the first cigar producers to understand the power of branding and the use of cigar bands on cigars.

This particular brand and size became a favourite of Sir Winston Churchill after he visited Havana in 1946 and he permitted his name to be used on these cigars from the mid-1950s.
