Romeo y Julieta are, quite simply, one of the most famous Cuban cigar producers, and it is these Churchill cigars that are their most famous size and shape. The Churchill is a long and slender cigar and measure in at 7 inches with a 47 ring guage.
The Romeo y Julieta Brand is named after Shakespeare’s eponymous lovers and, as Cuban cigar brand, dates back to 1875. The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don ‘Pepin’ Rodríguez. Don Rodriguez was one of the first cigar producers to understand the power of branding and the use of cigar bands on cigars.
The Romeo y Julieta Churchill-sized cigar dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. This particular brand and size became a favourite of Sir Winston Churchill after he visited Havana in 1946 and he permitted his name to be used on these cigars from the mid-1950s. The Romeo y Julieta Churchill is a big Cuban cigar, imposing and statesmanlike and develops into a rich, rewarding smoke. Churchill became so associated with this size that many other cigar producers now also use it for similar sized cigars. Davidoff and La Invicta for example.
Romeo y Julieta cigars are known for their medium to full bodied flavors, with notes of nutty, cedar, leather, and spices. Some variants of Romeo y Julieta cigars also have hints of coffee, cocoa, and sweet natural tobacco. The exact flavor profile can vary depending on the specific blend, size, and aging of the cigar.
Romeo y Julieta Churchill Cigars Tubos are individually presented in a cedar-lined aluminium tubes.
The Romeo y Julieta Churchill is a medium-bodied cigar with a smooth, creamy profile and hints of spice. Expect to taste leather, peanuts, and sweet tobacco before lighting. As you smoke, you might experience earth, cedar, nuts, and black pepper, followed by dark chocolate that transitions to milk chocolate and sweet vanilla. Towards the end, the flavours become creamier with subtle chocolate notes, mild nuttiness, and a coffee-like finish.
These long cigars should smoke for well over an hour.
