Buckingham Palace Gin is a small batch gin made with selected botanicals from Buckingham Palace Gardens. It is bottled at 42% ABV.
This Royal gin was launched in 2020 and has not previously been widely available outside of palace shops and at official events but, in the Queen’s Jubilee Year, permission has been given to supply a selection of independent retailers. All profits from sales of the gin will go to The Royal Collection Trust, a registered charity, and will help fund the care and conservation of the Royal Collection. The Royal Collection is one of the largest and most important art collections in the world.
Buckingham Palace Gin is a small batch gin made using a pure wheat base spirit as a clean background spirit to allow the expression of the botanicals. Many of the citrus and herbal notes sourced from botanicals are gathered in the Buckingham Palace Gardens. Amongst the 12 botanicals are lemon verbena, hawthorn berries, bay leaves and mulberry leaves which are hand-picked from the 16 hectares of gardens. The planting of mulberry trees was popularised in England during the reign of James I and there are over 40 species in the gardens. Of course, there is some juniper in there too!
This is not the only gin with Royal connections, Price Charles produces a gin from botanicals harvested from his Highgrove Estate.
