Mozart Liqueurs are produced in the city of Salzburg, Austria, the birthplace of the great composer himself. The Mozart Distillerie was founded in 1954 and has built a reputation for producing the highest quality chocolate liqueurs, which are the go-to chocolate liqueurs for barmen and many cocktail recipes around the world. they produce a wide range of liqueurs, including the classic Mozart Gold, a Dark Chocolate and the autumnal favourites Pumpkin Spice Chocolate liqueur.
The high reputation of Mozart Liqueurs stems from the combination of entirely natural, high-quality base ingredients and Mozart’s unique manufacturing process. The foundation for all chocolate liqueurs is a cacao macerate, created from a specially selected blend of two premium West African cacao beans, Forastero and Trinitario, which are macerated in beet sugar alcohol for two months in oak barrels.
During maceration, the distillery plays Mozart’s music to the cacao beans to aid in their breakdown, a process they call “soundmilling,” which uses loud and low notes, similar to ultrasound, to facilitate the process. Some of the macerate is used as-is, while some is redistilled. An interesting, though slightly dated, video about Mozart Distillerie, available here, provides further details on the process. Fine Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar is also macerated for use in the liqueur blends. The current master distiller and chocolatier is Dietmar Fadinger.
Mozart Coconut Chocolate Liqueur has a well-balanced, refreshingly light taste and an exotic aroma of coconut combined with a Caribbean note. Mozart Coconut Chocolate is characterised by a creamy consistency and a nutty, mildly fresh taste. It is made with Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter and “Exotic Essences”.
Bottled at 15% ABV.
Appearance: Milky, white, semi-transparent.
Nose: Nutty hints of coconut with rich, chocolate notes.
Taste: Creamy, cocoa butter refined with coconut and a Caribbean note.
Mozart Coconut Chocolate Liqueur is great chilled neat or over ice. It is also a great cocktail ingredient.

Ingredients
4 cl Mozart Coconut Chocolate Liqueur
3 cl Tequila Blanco, try Micampo Blanco
3 cl Pink grapefruit juice
2 cl Sugar syrup
A pinch of salt
Ice cubes
Garnish
Grapefruit
Blossoms
Method
Mix all ingredients with ice cubes in a cocktail shaker or any screw-top jar. Put some ice cubes into a tumbler and strain the “Choctail” into it. Top with a slice of a grapefruit and blossoms.
