Description

Yellow Chartreuse, like its green counterpart, is quite remarkable, considering that it too is made from entirely natural ingredients. It combines the scent of woodland flowers with a pronounced honey flavour, achieving a delicate balance of sweetness and alcohol.

Chartreuse is a French liqueur made by Carthusian monks at Voiron near Grenoble. It is a based on grape spirit flavoured, using a secret recipe, with 130 plant extracts, herbs, flowers and secret ingredients and is named after the Grande Chartreuse monastery where it was originally produced. There are two main types of Chartreuse – Green Chartreuse and Yellow Chartreuse. The former is coloured green (from extracts including chlorophyll) and the latter is less alcoholic and has milder and sweeter flavours. Yellow Chartreuse is milder and sweeter than the famous Green Chartreuse and was introduced to the world in 1838. Only two Chartreuse monks know the identity of the 130 plants, how to blend them and how to distill them into this world famous liqueur. They are also the only ones who know which plants they have to macerate to produce the natural green and yellow colours. And they alone supervise the slow ageing in oak casks.

Yellow Chartreuse is presented in the traditional Chartreuse liqueur bottle embossed with the seal of La Grande Chartreuse. Its colour is entirely natural with no artificial flavours or preservatives. It, too, can be enjoyed neat or in a long drink.
