Veritas White Blended Rum is a blend of white rums from Barbados and Jamaica.
A collaboration between Richard Seale (Foursquare Distillery, Barbados) and Hampden Estate (Jamaica), with involvement from Italian spirit importer Luca Gargano (Velier). This is a “pure” rum with zero added sugar, zero flavourings, and total transparency.
Veritas White Blended Rum was created to make the best white rum possible. It is a blend of Coffey still and pot still rums, including some 2-year-old white rum from Foursquare and some “funky” un-aged Jamaican double-retort pot still rum from Hampden Estate. The funk is light to moderate here: a low-ester rum is used, like the OWH marque, rather than the super-high esters found in some Hampden Estate rums. The slightly yellowish colour comes from the 2-year-old pot still component from Foursquare.
Bottled at 47% ABV at the Foursquare Distillery without additives or colouring.
Most white rums are bottled at 37.5% or 40%, which can cause them to “disappear” in a cocktail. At 47% ABV, Veritas carries its tropical aromatics with much greater intensity. It provides the structural “backbone” needed for world-class mixology, ensuring the character of the rum is the star of the show. This rum is designed to deliver serious flavour and character, especially for classic cocktails, for an ultimate Daiquiri or Mojito.
The name “Veritas” is Latin for “Truth” and reflects the brand’s commitment to total transparency with no added sugar, no flavourings or colouring.
Can be served neat or over ice, but is great in cocktails like a Mojito, Daiquiri or as a long drink with ginger beer and a wedge of lime.
This is the gold standard. The higher proof ensures the rum isn’t “washed out” by the citrus and sugar.
