Description

Chateau La Tour Carnet 2009 presented in a 1.5 Litre Magnum.

Chateau La Tour Carnet is a wine estate located in Haut Medoc wine growing appellation of Bordeaux. It was classified as as one of ten Quatrièmes Crus (Fourth Growths) in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. Today it is bottled as a Haut Medoc AC.

The Chateau and its historic square tower are located in Saint-Laurent-Médoc on the road to Saint-Julien Beychevelle. The estate was founded in the 12th century and there are records of serious wine growing at the estate since the 16th century. The Chateau was most recently bought by Bernard Magrez in 1999 and has since gone from strength to strength. Magrez also owns Château Pape Clément in Graves, Château Fombrauge in St Emilion and Clos Haut-Peyraguey in Sauternes. Using a drone (one of the latest techniques acquired by Bernard Magrez) to analyse the vineyard plots from the air, has led to an enhanced understanding of which grape varieties are most suited to each plot. The terroir of La Butte, for example, is more conducive to Merlot, while the slopes are better-suited to Cabernet.

The Chateau La Tour Carnet estate comprises some 126 hectares (310 acres), of which 73 ha (180 acres) are under vine, planted with 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.

Chateau La Tour Carnet 2009  is a blend of 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
