Château Larmande is a Grand Cru Classé covering 22.5 hectares situated 1,200 metres from the ancient village of St Emilion and possesses a great diversity of soil types. The estate includes 19 hectares of vines planted in one block close to the Château, the rest of the plots being no more than 6 kilometres away. The average age of the vines is 30 years, and the mix of grape varieties is 65 % Merlot, 30 % Cabernet Franc and 5 % Cabernet Sauvignon. The vat cellar was renovated in 2003. This is now made up of 16 temperature controlled parallel piped vats, which contain insulated double walls, the principle of which is to achieve the same thermal insulation provided by concrete vats, and at the same time keeping the high level of hygiene afforded by stainless steel vats. The barrel cellar, which was renovated in 1994, is made up of 60 % new barrels and 40% second fill barrels. Production of 110,000 bottles per vintage.
