The estate is owned by Jean-Marc Grenier and is located in the village of Lansac. It comprises some 35 hectares of vineyard and they have been practising organic viticulture since 1989. The vineyards are planted on hillside clayey-calcareous soils (40%) and on clayey-silty slopes (60%). The vineyards are planted with 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec. The wine is vinified in the traditional manner in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. Annual productions around 75,ooo bottles per vintage.
Chateau Le Monastere is extremely eco-friendly and uses no chemical fertiliser and no pesticides. The wine is made using only natural yeast, there is no fining and no enzymes used. Certified organic.
