Description

Gran Calzadilla is one of Spain’s most impressive red wines, the standout wine from Calzadilla’s red wine range. It is made from the oldest Tempranillo vines (50%) and the very best Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) on the estate. This is a powerful and refined Spanish red that showcases the finest the region has to offer.

Gran Calzadilla Winemaking

Each variety is vinified and aged separately in a careful selection of American and French Allier oak casks for 12 to 16 months. After blending, the wine then matures for a further 18 months in bottle, allowing it to develop remarkable depth, harmony, and complexity.

A Grand Spanish Red Built to Last

Gran Calzadilla delivers intense concentration, complex dark fruit, rich spice, and a beautifully structured palate. This is a serious, age-worthy Spanish red wine with the balance and structure to cellar gracefully for many years.

It is the grand wine of the house, a true reflection of what can be achieved when only the very best grapes and traditional craftsmanship come together.

Why Gran Calzadilla Stands Out:

  • Classic Spanish blend: 50% old-vine Tempranillo and 50% estate Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 12–16 months in French and American oak
  • An additional 18 months of bottle ageing
  • Exceptional concentration and layered complexity
  • Outstanding ageing potential

Perfect for wine lovers searching for a premium Spanish red with character, power, and longevity. Ready to add a truly special Spanish wine to your collection?

Gran Calzadilla is now available at Fareham Wine Cellar.

Tasting Notes

Gran Calzadilla is a dark reddish / brown colour with a lighter rim. It has a sensational bouquet of black fruits, cocoa, vanilla and aromatic herbs and spices with clove, peppers and cinammon notes, it has a balsamic oiliness and great richness on the palate, very rounded and velvety, intense and expressive mature fruit with toasted and smoky background, a long finish of fruit and liquorice sensations. Soft, smooth and mellow.
