Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Carmenere

Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Carmenere is single vineyard, organic red wine from the Colchagua Valley. The grapes are sourced from their famous Apalta Vineyard which is  located 170 Kilometers South West of Santiago.

Lapostolle was founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. The Marnier Lapostolle family, founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur Grand Marnier, is famous for producing spirits and liqueurs, but the family has also been involved in winemaking for generations. In creating Lapostolle, the family has pursued the same uncompromising approach to quality that made Grand Marnier a global success. Its objective is as simple as it is ambitious: to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroirs of Chile. Today, Lapostolle owns 370 hectares in three different vineyards and produce a total of 200.000 cases spread over Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenère and Syrah. The Lapostolle winery is located in the town of Cunaco, right next to Santa Cruz. It is the original winery, where Lapostolle was founded in 1994, and today it is here where both the Casa and Cuvée Alexandre wines are produced.

Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Carmenere 2016 is a blend of 85% Carmenere and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are hand harvested into small 14kg boxes, 30% of the grapes were hand destemmed and the rest went through a strict berry selection using state of the art Vistalys optical technology. There is a gentle extraction and judicious use of oak preserve the fruit character of the grapes whilst adding complexity to the wine. Fermentation occurs using only native yeasts and is with 3% in barrels, 27% in French oak vats and 70% in steel tanks. The wines is aged in French oak barrels – 20% new, 22% second use and the remaining 58% in third use barrels.
