Trapiche Estacion 1883 Cabernet Franc is a red wine made with grapes sourced from the Mendoza wine-growing region of Argentina.
Trapiche Wines is located in Mendoza at the foothills of the Andes. Over the last 125 years, Trapiche’s reputation has grown because of its pioneering and innovative spirit and its dedication to quality and diversity to produce the highest quality wines. They represent the richness of diversity in Argentina, with over 1000 ha of their own vineyards and taking advantage of the different soils and climates, Trapiche has specialised in obtaining the best fruit from their terroir. This is celebrated in their “Terroir Series of Malbecs – also available from Fareham Wine Cellar.
Trapiche was founded in 1883, and the winery was built next to a train station (Estacion is Spanish for station), and the Trapiche Estacion range of wines commemorates this. This allowed barrels of wine to be easily loaded onto the railway wagons and gave Trapiche an extra advantage in getting their wines to market and onward to ports for export. As well as this Cabernet Franc, the range also includes a Bonarda and Malbec.

Cabernet Franc is a red wine grape variety which is often used in blends but also produced as a varietal wine. It is known for its vibrant acidity, moderate tannins, and aromas of red berries, herbs, and sometimes bell pepper or graphite.
Originating in France’s Bordeaux and Loire Valley regions, it’s widely grown globally, thriving in cooler climates. It’s prized for adding elegance and structure to blends like Bordeaux-style wines and is often enjoyed for its food-friendly, versatile profile.
It is also widely planted in other wine-growing regions around the world, including the United States, South Africa, Italy, Chile and Australia.
