Description

Chateau Sainte-Roseline Lampe de Meduse Rose is a Cote de Provence Rosé. It is presented in the iconic, unique and patented lantern-shaped bottle.

Chateau Sainte-Roseline is one of the most famous estates of Cote de Provence. It is located in the commune of Les Arcs-sur-Argens in the Var, which is only some 30 minutes away from the towns of Saint-Tropez and Cannes. The origins of the estate stretch back to the 12th century and is home to the famous 11th Century Sainte Roseline Chapel and 12th Century Cloister which were both classified as historical monuments in 1980. The Chateau is one of just 18 Classified Growths of Provence and was one of the first to be awarded this status in 1955.

The estate was purchased by property developer Bernard Teillaud in 1994 and the chateau was entirely renovated and improved. Teillaud’s daughter Aurélie Bertin and Delphine Meunier bought the estate from their father in 2011 and the estate remains in the family to this day. There is also a sister chateau called Château des Demoiselles. Most recently the estate has become known for producing Kylie Minogue’s top of the range rosé wines. The estate consists of 110 hectares of vineyards planted with 11 different grape varieties and produces rosé, white and red wine in close proximity to the Mediterranean. From the 2022 vintage, their wines are certified organic.

Chateau Sainte-Roseline Lampe de Meduse Rosé is a multi-grape blend of 6 grape varieties: Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Rolle and Tibouren. The vines have an average age of 25 years old and are planted on clay and limestone soils. After harvest the grapes are sorted and destemmed before vinification is in stainless steel. The wine is aged in vat with lees stirring.

The Lampe de Meduse bottle was created by previous owner, the Baronne de Rasque de Laval. The bottom is designed to look like a traditional perfume bottle from Grasse, whilst the slender top is reminiscent of bottles from Alsace.

Tasting Notes

Chateau Sainte-Roseline Lampe de Meduse Rosé has aromas of lychee, citrus fruits and a hint of almonds. This multi-grape rosé blend shows its delicacy and elegance, with each element offering something different to its arsenal. It is a juicy, refreshing wine with citrus fruits, pink grapefruit creeping through, with some summer berries adding complexity to the saline finish.

Food Pairing

Drink as an aperitif or with grilled fish, summer salads, white meats. For the cheeseboard try with Parmigiano Reggiano or a fresh goats cheese.
