Description

Alianca Tinto Bruto Reserva is a Portuguese sparkling red wine which is produced by Caves Alianca.

Caves Alianca, Vienyards Throughout Portugal

Caves Alianca is one of Portugal’s largest and most progressive producers with 600 hectares spread across estates in five regions from Douro in the north to Alentejo in the south. Winemaker Francisco Antunes oversees what must be one of the most diverse ranges in Europe, from the 3rd largest Portuguese rose brand (Casal Mendes) to some of the country’s most impressive premium reds from estates in Douro, Dao, Bairrada and Alentejo.

Arguably, Francisco’s greatest achievements lie between these extremes, a range of mid-priced wines from native varieties, full of character, quite distinctly Portuguese, but at the same time approachable and with fresh, modern fruit.

Alianca Tinto Bruto Reserva is produced from grapes grown in the Bairrada region, to the west of Dao, this wine is a blend of Baga and Tinta Roriz, which undergoes 24 months ageing in bottle before “dégorgement” of this sparkling red wine.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance: Deep ruby or garnet red with a rich, inky hue and fine, persistent bubbles.
  • Aroma: Intensely fruity and vinous, featuring wild berries (like blackberries and raspberries) and red fruits.
  • Palate: Persistent and smooth, with soft tannins, a slight acidity that adds freshness, and good depth of fruit. It’s elegant, balanced, and slightly acidulous, leading to a refreshing, clean finish.

Food Pairing

This sparkling red wine is best served chilled (around 8-10°C) and pairs well with grilled meats, charcuterie or even chocolate desserts.
