Description

Champagne Barons de Rothschild Concordia Brut NV is a French sparkling wine which unites the three branches of the legendary Rothschild family for the very first time. This impressive family project brings together the prestige of one of the world’s most famous wine dynasties to deliver an exquisite non-vintage Champagne with a high proportion of Grand Cru-sourced and reserve wines. A true Rothschild family product.

Champagne Barons de Rothschild Concordia Brut NV

To ensure the absolute highest quality, Champagne Barons de Rothschild Concordia Brut is blended exclusively from the “cuvées” – the pristine, first pressings of the grapes. All “tailles” (subsequent pressings) are strictly rejected from the blend and sold on to other Champagne houses. This uncompromising selection underpins the hallmark house style: exceptionally elegant, low-dosage Champagnes defined by the crisp finesse, purity, and dominance of premium Chardonnay.

Winemaking

  • Grands & Premiers Crus Blend: A sophisticated cuvée composed of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, with an impressive 85% of the total grapes sourced from highly rated Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards.
  • Prestigious Terroirs: The Chardonnay is primarily selected from top Côte des Blancs sites (including Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Trépail, and Vertus), while the Pinot Noir comes from the region’s finest terroirs (Verzenay, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and Ambonnay).
  • High Reserve Wine Content: Reserve wines make up 40% of the final blend, with the majority drawn from the house’s meticulously managed “Réserve perpétuelle” (a solera-type) system to guarantee consistent depth and complexity.
  • Extended Cellar Ageing: The wine is aged on its lees for a minimum of 4 years in the cellars before disgorgement, followed by an additional 6 months of resting post-disgorgement to ensure perfect integration before release.
  • Low Dosage: Finished with a precise, low dosage of 6 g/L, letting the natural finesse, purity, and terroir of the fruit shine through.

The Birth of Champagne Barons de Rothschild

Champagne Barons de Rothschild was founded in 2003 by three of the most esteemed names in global winemaking: Baroness Philippine (Château Mouton Rothschild), Baron Eric (Château Lafite Rothschild), and Baron Benjamin (Château Clarke). These legendary figures do not lend their names to just any project.

Their headquarters in Reims was opened in 2007 on the corner of the Boulevard Lundy and the Camille Lenoir Street. In the same year, the company also acquired a wine-making facility and cellars in Vertus with the acquisition of Maison Prieur. The first Champagne was launched in 2009. The Brut is now joined by Brut Nature, Blanc de Blancs, Rosé and luxury cuvées.

Based on their combined experience in Bordeaux (and at wineries around the world) the family works with its partners on an equal footing, maintaining a close, collaborative relationship with growers to oversee meticulous vineyard management.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: In the glass, the Concordia Brut presents a beautiful, bright, and clear pale golden hue, enlivened by an exceptionally fine, persistent stream of delicate bubbles.

Nose: The complex and expressive bouquet opens with the hallmark freshness of premium Chardonnay, revealing vibrant aromas of white-fleshed fruits, notably crisp pear and juicy nectarine. This fruit profile is elegantly balanced by the Pinot Noir’s ethereal touches of fresh peony, alongside deeper, more nuanced layers of dried apricot, toasted almond, and subtle sweet spice.

Palate: On the palate, this Champagne demonstrates remarkable roundness and vinous generosity, perfectly counterbalanced by a striking, mineral-driven verticality. Bright flavours of crisp nectarine blend seamlessly with complex notes of rich honey, saffron, and a hint of white pepper. The finish is long, clean, and beautifully poised, lifted by a touch of noble, chalky bitterness that leaves a refreshing and sophisticated impression.

Food Pairing

Concordia Brut is ideal as an aperitif, but can also be enjoyed throughout a meal. Try with dishes including:

  • Seafood & shellfish, especially gently fried sea scallops, prawns, or rockfish
  • Classic creamy risotto – the Champagne’s freshness cuts through the richness perfectly
  • White meats such as roast chicken or turkey dishes
  • Cheeseboard: particularly rich, creamy cheeses like Brie de Meaux (the crisp acidity works beautifully)
