Description

Champagne Henriot Brut Souverain is Henriot’s main non-vintage Champagne. The Henriot family can trace their lineage back to 1640 in Reims where they worked in textile and wine brokerage, however Champagne Henriot was not officially founded until 1808 by Apolline Henriot. Champagne Henriot became a huge success with royalty and was a favourite at the Dutch and Austrian courts and with the Hapsburgs in Hungary. House of Henriot is one of last independent and family-owned Champagne producers and is devoted to creating the most superb wines from grapes carefully selected from the great “terroirs” on the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Champagne Henriot Brut Souverain is composed of mainly of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with some Pinot Meunier adding a delicate fruity note. The Chardonnay is mainly from the Côte des Blancs and the Pinot Noir mainly from the Montagne de Reims – the fruit is sourced from over 25 crus and there is usually around 20% reserve wines in the assemblage, though this can vary from year to year. Champagne Henriot ages the wines in their cellars in Reims. In these caves, dug out of the chalk to a depth of 18 metres, the temperature (11°) and hygrometry (98%) are constant. To allow the grape varieties full expression, Champagne Henriot observes maturation periods that are normally twice as long as those required by law. The time necessary for each cuvée to reach its full potential. The dosage is measured (approximately 8g/l) to obtain an optimal balance and maturity of the wines.
