Half bottles of Muscadet are a brilliant solution for anyone who wants to enjoy a crisp white wine without opening a full 75cl bottle – ideal for one person dining alone, pairing a single course with the right wine, or simply portion control. At 37.5cl, this half bottle delivers the same clean, mineral-driven character Muscadet is famous for, in a format that’s equally at home on a picnic rug, a desk lunch, or a bedside table.
Maison Chéreau Carré is a family-owned winery based in Saint-Fiacre, in the heart of the Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine sub-appellation — responsible for over three-quarters of the entire region’s output and renowned as its finest source. Founded in 1960, the Chéreau family has spent generations perfecting crisp, fresh, and mineral-driven Muscadet that captures the unique character of this corner of the Loire.
The family own four estates totalling around 135 hectares: Château de Chasseloir, Château de l’Oiselinière de la Ramée, and Domaine du Bois Bruley. Grapes are hand-harvested from the appellation’s finest schistous soils, with most cuvées aged on the lees, and the estate follows the principles of La Lutte Raisonnée to protect the terroir and environment for future vintages.
Chéreau Carré Muscadet is a classic expression of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine: pale and bright in the glass, with citrus and green apple on the nose alongside a distinct saline, mineral edge. The palate is clean and steely, lifted by a gentle natural spritz and finishing with the bright salinity that makes Muscadet one of the world’s great oyster wines, even in half-bottle form.
Great as an aperitif and perfect with shellfish, oyster and seafood. A half bottle of Muscadet is great for two people to go with a starter.
Why buy Muscadet in a half bottle?
A 37.5cl half bottle is the perfect size for a single glass and a half to two glasses of wine — ideal for solo dining, lighter lunches, or simply enjoying a classic Muscadet without opening a full-size bottle.
What food pairs well with Muscadet?
Muscadet is one of the world’s classic oyster and seafood wines. Its bright acidity and saline character also make it an excellent match for mussels, light fish dishes, goat’s cheese, and simple charcuterie.
What is Melon de Bourgogne?
The Melon de Bourgogne grape variety was introduced to the Nantes region by monks from Burgundy (as the name might suggest!) in the 19th century. Following a harsh winter in 1709 that wiped out much of the local vineyards, winegrowers were compelled to seek a more resilient grape capable of withstanding the harsh cold. This new variety, the result of crossing Pinot Blanc with Gouais Blanc adapted well to the Loire’s climate and would eventually become the foundation for Muscadet wines. It can also be found in North America in Oregon and Washington State.
Is Chéreau Carré Muscadet vegan-friendly?
Yes, this wine is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.
