The grapes for this English Sauvignon Blanc come from the Missing Gate Vineyard, an 18-acre site owned by the Speakman family in Woodham Ferrers, Essex. All 18,000 vines are planted on steep clay slopes rolling down towards the River Crouch — a distinctive site that delivers exceptional concentration and intensity in warm vintages. The Crouch Valley in Essex is fast establishing itself as one of England’s most exciting viticultural areas, combining reliable sunshine hours with maritime influence from the Crouch Estuary to produce white wines of genuine quality and character. The combination of thiol-enhancing yeasts and six months of oak maturation with regular bâtonnage produces a Sauvignon Blanc of unusual complexity and weight.
