Description

Marc Brédif Vouvray Classic is a beautifully expressive white wine crafted from 100% Chenin Blanc in the Loire Valley. Produced by the renowned Domaines de Ladoucette at the esteemed Marc Brédif estate, this elegant Vouvray captures the essence of its terroir in a refined, slightly off-dry style. The wine’s balance of vibrant fruit, delicate honeyed notes and bright acidity makes this a versatile food wine with great charm, and a good alternative for the ABC (anything but Chardonnay) crowd. Buy Marc Brédif Vouvray online and in-store at Fareham Wine Cellar – also available in 37.5cl half bottles.

Marc Brédif Vineyards

The grapes for the Marc Brédif Vouvray Classic are grown on the lower slopes of Vouvray and Vernou-sur-Brenne, on predominantly chalk-clay soils with some flint-clay parcels. The vines average 25–30 years old.

Owned by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette since 1980

Marc Bredif, with its majestic cellars in the heart of the Touraine, has been one of the most famous houses in Vouvray and Chinon since 1893.

When Baron Patrick de Ladoucette took over the house in 1980, he breathed new life into the century-old winery, while preserving its traditions. The key to any de Ladoucette wine is quality in the vineyard, the winery and the bottle. Baron de Ladoucette is dedicated to maintaining exceptionally high standards throughout his portfolio. The wines are made in the state-of-the-art winery within the landmark Château du Nozet and are considered among the finest examples of their type.

Continuing the Brédif Tradition

Today, Marc Bredif continues to produce Chenin Blanc Vouvray, including some fantastic sparkling and sweet wines, and Chinon red wines of the finest quality. The history of the wines of Vouvray is directly linked to the religious history of Touraine. From the 4th century onwards, the monks owned most of the vineyards, including the best growths.

The cellars of Marc Bredif are among the biggest and most beautiful of the appellation and the digging of the Tuffé hillsides to make them began in the 8th century. It is here that they age their extremely long-lived Grand Année Loire white wines for many years (which still retain an amazing freshness).

Tasting Notes

Marc Bredif Vouvray Classic is a beautiful crystalline pale yellow. A fine nose reminiscent of well-ripe yellow fruits (peach and pear), to which are added notes of exotic fruits such as pineapple and shades of citrus. The attack is full and rich, with a lot of volume, evolving on a lemony freshness and long and lively exotic fruit finish.

Food Pairing

Vouvray is a versatile wine that can pair well with a variety of foods. Try with seafood: Oysters, scallops, lobster, and other seafood pair perfectly with the crisp acidity and minerality of Vouvray.

It is also a great match for chicken, duck, and other poultry dishes complement the light, refreshing nature of Vouvray.

Try pairing with soft cheeses like Brie, goat cheese, and Camembert. Fruity dishes, such as fruit salads or fruit tart, can also pair well with Vouvray.
