Discover the remarkable quality revolution of the Right Bank with Chateau L’Embrun, one of the absolute star producers of the modern Blaye AOC appellation.
Historically, the Côtes de Blaye region was traditionally celebrated for its crisp white wines rather than its reds. When red wines were produced, they were typically lighter-style, fruity, Merlot-dominated quaffers meant for early drinking. However, the turn of the millennium changed everything for this hidden gem of Bordeaux.
In 2000, the new, stricter Blaye Appellation laws were established with a singular mission: to drastically elevate the quality, complexity, and concentration of the region’s wines. To achieve this, several stringent vineyard regulations were introduced:
Chateau L’Embrun stands at the absolute forefront of this modern quality movement. The estate was acquired in 2001 by visionary winemaker Franck Fourcade, who also owns the highly regarded neighbouring estate, Chateau Chasserat.
The backbone of Chateau L’Embrun’s exceptional depth lies in its mature, 35-year-old vineyards. The estate’s terroir is meticulously planted with a classic Right Bank blend designed for structure and balance:
The result is a selection of sophisticated, concentrated red Bordeaux wines that punch far above their weight class, offering incredible value for wine lovers.
